The first thing I ever photographed was fireworks on the 4th of July, 2021, in Destin, FL, with my grandpa. That night made me say, "I could do this forever.", and I haven't stopped since. I have been practicing photography for the last four years since that night. I love event photography the most. I love seeing people's reactions to my photos. It's usually something like, "I can't believe you got that moment!". Over the last four years, I've also had numerous opportunities to gain event experience by doing photos for different events through my Boy Scout Troop, Marching Band, as well as family and friends. From Court of Honors (including 5 Eagle Scout Court of Honors) to full Indoor Guard and Percussion competitions, from exhibitions to summer camps, all of these different experiences have helped me gain invaluable experience in event photography and make me a weapon of adaptability and resourcefulness when it comes to capturing any event.
I am proud to be an Adobe Certified Professional in Visual Design Using Adobe Photoshop. This certification reflects my advanced skills and expertise in creating high-quality visual content, demonstrating a thorough understanding of Photoshop’s tools and techniques.
I like to describe my work as candid, clean, and classic. My goal for event photography is to capture the real you, without sticking a camera in your face, because it's important to me that I'm not in the way of whatever you're doing. I'm here to add to the experience, not be the main character. In nature, I enjoy capturing a scene from perspectives that may not be overly obvious when you first look at it. Maybe that means shooting from a bit lower to the ground, or maybe that means hiking just a bit further than everyone else. My editing style varies depending on the time of year and what I'm shooting, but I always love golden-orange-pink hues like sunsets and grand landscapes that show off the scenic and impressive might of Mother Nature.
When you invest in a professional photography session, you're investing in far more than just the time we spend together during the shoot. The final images you receive are the result of a dedicated, multi-step creative process.
Think of it like an iceberg: the photo session itself is just the tip that you see, while the vast majority of the work happens behind the scenes.
This is the foundational work we do to ensure your session is a success before the camera even comes out.
Consultation & Communication: Replying to emails, answering your questions, and understanding your vision.
Planning & Styling: Providing guidance on outfits, choosing the perfect location based on light and season, and scheduling to fit your needs.
Gear Preparation: Charging batteries, cleaning lenses, and packing thousands of dollars' worth of professional equipment to be ready for any situation.
This is the fun part! It's the tip of the iceberg, and where my expertise comes to life.
The Shoot Itself: Guiding you through poses, creating a relaxed and fun atmosphere, and using my technical and creative skills to capture the best, most authentic moments.
Professional Expertise: Managing light, composition, and camera settings to create beautiful, high-quality images.
This is where the majority of the time is spent. A 90-minute session often requires 4-6 hours of skilled post-production work.
Culling: Transferring hundreds (sometimes thousands) of images and carefully selecting the absolute best shots that tell your story.
Editing & Color Grading: Each selected image is individually edited for color, brightness, and contrast to achieve my signature artistic style.
Retouching: Meticulous, natural retouching is applied as needed to ensure you look your best.
Gallery Creation: Uploading your final images to a private, professional online gallery for you to view, share, and download.
Running a professional photography business involves significant overhead costs that are factored into every session.
Professional-grade cameras, lenses, and lighting equipment.
Subscriptions to professional editing software (Adobe Creative Cloud) and gallery delivery services (Pixieset).
Business insurance, taxes, marketing costs, and continued education to constantly improve my craft.
RAW (file format) photos are like waking up before coffee—technically functional, but not ready for public viewing. They capture every bit of data from a camera's sensor, but look flat. Editing is where the magic happens—like applying makeup, but for pixels. It’s my chance to fix exposure, adjust white balance, change framing, and make sure your photos don’t look like they were taken during an alien abduction. In short, RAW files are amazing, but they must be edited before going out!
When we finish with a shoot, I immediately go home and back up your images in 2 separate locations. I do this to ensure that no accidents end with losing your images.
After backing up is finished, image selection (or culling) begins! This is when I go through the hundreds to thousands of raw images from your shoot. I look at each photo individually and select the very best for you.
Those photos are then imported into editing software (Adobe Lightroom & Photoshop), where I edit every photo in my unique style! Lightroom will be used for things like lighting improvement, noise reduction, color grading, etc., while Photoshop will be used to remove pesky distractions from the background of your photos.
After I finish editing, I export all of the final images onto my hard drives and back everything up again! Your moments can never be too safe.
Your gallery will be delivered straight to your email via Google Drive or WeTransfer once all of the final touches have been added. From there, you will be able to relive your memories and download everything!
The images I provide will be edited to improve lighting, contrast, sharpness, and color — all of which a standard processes for digital photographers. Therefore, I do not provide the unedited RAW images. If you are unhappy with your final images, I am happy to reedit your gallery for you.
